General Technical Department Reviews Organizational Restructuring Plan for 2026-2030

(LPAN) On May 5, 2026, the General Technical Department (GTD) convened a meeting to research and refine its organizational structure for the 2026-2030 period. The meeting was presided over by Brigadier General Khampheng Boualabat, Deputy Director of the GTD, with the participation of the restructuring steering committee, content sub-committees, specialized departments, and relevant officials.
Following the notification from the General Staff Department regarding the overall force development plan for 2026-2030, this meeting serves as a foundation for implementing national defense duties in line with the Party’s military guidelines in the new era. The objective is to align military development with the nation’s socio-economic growth. Specifically, the GTD aims to streamline its organizational apparatus to be more compact, integrate modern weaponry and technical equipment, and transform the Lao People’s Army into a revolutionary force with a modern and well-structured foundation.
