Foreign Defense Attaché Corps in Laos Visits Division 5 and Champasak Provincial Military Headquarters

(LPAN) May 5, 2026 – Colonel Suriyan Chiwchahern, President of the Foreign Defense Attaché Corps (FDAC) to the Lao PDR, and Colonel Misay Phengdavath, Deputy Director General of the Foreign Relations Department, along with their delegation, paid a working visit to Division 5 and the Champasak Provincial Military Headquarters. The visit was organized on the occasion of the Lao New Year (Boun Pi Mai) . Upon their arrival at Division 5, the delegation was warmly received by Brigadier General Khamkod Insina, Political Chief, and Colonel Bounsom Inthala, Military Chief of Division 5. At the Champasak Provincial Military Headquarters, the welcome party was led by Brigadier General Vilatou Vorachit, Political Chief, and Colonel Sitprasert Nouanmanivong, Military Chief. During the meeting, the leadership of both units expressed a warm welcome to the delegation and provided a brief overview of their unique characteristics, strategic locations, roles, organizational structures, and key achievements in recent years. In response, Colonel Suriyan Chiwchahern, representing the FDAC, expressed sincere gratitude to the command committees of Division 5 and the Champasak Military Headquarters for their hospitality. He reaffirmed the commitment to further strengthening and expanding defense cooperation between the Lao Ministry of National Defense—specifically Division 5 and the Champasak Headquarters—and the respective defense ministries of the member countries. The visit concluded with a constructive exchange of views and a formal exchange of souvenirs between the parties.
