(LPAN)On April 19, 2026, the Vietnamese Government’s Special Working Group laid wreaths at the Laos-Vietnam Combat Alliance Monument in Oudomxay Province. The delegation was led by Brigadier General Doan Quang Hoa, General Director of the Policy-Social Department and representative of the Vietnamese Government's Special Working Group, during their official working visit to the Lao PDR. The event was attended by Colonel Phonmixay Sivongseng, General Director the Policy Department of the General Political Department and Deputy Head of the Lao Government’s Special Working Group, along with other relevant officials. The wreath-laying ceremony was held to express profound respect and deep gratitude for the meritorious deeds, heroism, and indomitable spirit of Lao ancestors and the revolutionary soldiers of both Laos and Vietnam. These fighters sacrificed their lives and blood, struggling side-by-side against a common enemy under the leadership of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and the Communist Party of Vietnam. Their sacrifices ultimately secured national independence and territorial integrity, paving the way for the prosperity of the multi-ethnic Lao people and the establishment of the Lao People's Democratic Republic. The Laos-Vietnam Combat Alliance Monument stands as a symbol of the solidarity and deep-rooted relationship between the two Parties, States, and Armies. It commemorates the blood and sacrifices made by Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts throughout the protracted struggle for the independence of the Lao people.
