Lao-Thai Secretariat Meet General Border Security Cooperation Subcommittee 70th

(LPAN) The 70th Secretariat Meeting of the Lao-Thai, Thai-Lao General Border Security Cooperation Subcommittee or SUB-GBC was held in Luang Prabang City, Luang Prabang Province, Lao PDR from 24-25 February, led by Lt. Col. Souphavet Soukluangkham, Head of the Border Military Command Office, Ministry of National Defense, Secretary of the Lao side and Col. Wutthipat Pratthakorn, Director of the Thai-Lao Border Activities Group, Military Border Affairs Department, Secretary of the Thai side, and there were technical officers from Laos and Thailand taking place.
At the meeting, both sides had reviewed the achievement of cooperation in the implementation of bilateral agreement approved in the previous meeting of General Border Security Cooperation Subcommittee or SUB-GBC of Laos- Thailand and Thailand–Laos over the past one year. Both sides have strengthened cooperation to resolve illegal activities of bad gangs such as drug dealers, weapon trading and human trafficking along Laos - Thailand border areas on the Mekong River as well as joint land borders in order to protect friendship and amity atmosphere and to facilitate Lao and Thai people’s exchange their visit and commerce along the borders between the two countries.
During this consultation, the two sides basically agreed on the draft content to be submitted to their superiors for approval on 26 February 2026.
